Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias has admitted it is important to switch the 'club chip' off when players meet up for international duty.
The 25-year-old defender plays alongside Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo at City and with Portugal. Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium in 2020, Dias has strengthened his bond with the pair but has also maintained his friendship with his Portuguese teammates at Manchester United.
On the other half of Manchester, the Reds have three Portugal internationals within their ranks - Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot. All six players are expected to be included in Portugal's squad for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

While Dias appreciates the "companionship" that he has with Silva and Cancelo at City, he also believes that it is vital to switch mindsets when going from club football to international football.
When asked if playing alongside Silva and Cancelo benefits him when featuring for Portugal, the 25-year-old replied: "I think it's more about the companionship that isn't just with Joao and Bernardo, it's between everyone.
"I think the companionship is what really helps us in these moments of transition because, as much as there is connection at a club and we have three at City and there are three others at United. More than that is being able to change the chip. And there is that companionship that exists between all of us.
"There are different ways of playing and as such, it is very important to switch off the club chip and switch on the national team chip. And to switch on that willingness to work with all our colleagues."
