Royal Mail has announced workers will stage 19 days of strike action over the next two months. The Queen’s royal guards have been snapped taking a rare break without their uniforms on after collectively working a 24-hour schedule.The Yeomen of the Guard – affectionately known as Beefeaters – are a British staple, and are usually made up of retired soldiers who have served in the Armed Forces.Typically located at the Tower of London, the guards have been watching over the late monarch’s coffin in recent days and have been spotted in Westminster Hall standing guard alongside The Gentlemen at Arms, as well as Princess Anne at one point. The nine-year-old heir to the throne joined his younger sister Princess Charlotte as they paid their respects and said a final goodbye to the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place on Monday 19 September in London before her body is later laid to rest in Windsor. The United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch will have a state funeral on the day which was deemed a Bank Holiday by her son, King Charles III. Following the funeral, the Queen’s body will be taken to Windsor Castle for a committal service before she is laid to rest at St George’s Chapel.
