Royal fan excitement builds as Coronation preparations begin outside Buckingham Palace

Preparations have already begun for King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla's Coronation in London, with Buckingham Palace being transformed ahead of the historic event. King Charles, 74, and the Queen Consort, 75, are set to be crowned on 6 May at Westminster Abbey in a service conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Celebrations will continue across the three-day bank holiday weekend, with a star-studded concert scheduled to take place on Sunday 7 May as well as The Coronation Big Lunch.
With just over two weeks to go until the big day, preparations are in full swing in the capital with new flags and seating areas being installed. New photos, taken on 17 April, show huge Union Jack flags have been installed outside Buckingham Palace along with silver fencing, ready for crowds to gather on 6 May. The grass outside the palace has been freshly cut ready for the Coronation and new seating now surrounds Horse Guards Parade.
Rows of blue and white seats have been put in ahead of the celebrations, and can be seen in the snaps. Rehearsals for the King and Queen Consort's crowning are also taking place. Royal fans could be seen watching The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment as they staged rehearsals at Buckingham Palace and The Mall.
Crowds began to gather as the rehearsals continued outside Wellington Barracks on Monday. The Coronation will kick off on 6 May with the service at Westminster taking place in the morning.The King and Queen Consort will arrive in procession from Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’.
