Irish popstar Ronan Keating is officially playing Finland's Vauhtiajojen Race and Rock Festival this coming weekend, despite the devastating loss of his brother Ciarán on Saturday. Car salesman Ciarán was in a horrific car collision while on his way to watch son Ruairí play football for Cork City against Sligo Rovers, which led to Ronan, 46, to 'drop everything' while with his wife Storm and return home to Ireland.
According to The Mail, the fatal road incident involved two cars in the neighbourhood of Ballymiles, with the driver of the other vehicle said to be receiving treatment for severe injuries at Mayo University Hospital. A high school teacher and third passenger were also hospitalised.
Naturally, festival attendees won't have been surprised if Ronan had decided to drop his commitments, but gig bosses provided them with some news on Facebook, writing: "We have received a lot of inquiries regarding Ronan Keating's appearance at the Speed Drive 20 year event. We recently heard some sad news when Ronan's brother passed away in an accident.
"The whole Speed Drivers team is sorry for the loss and wishes strength to the loved ones. We have contacted Ronan Keating today and he has confirmed that he still wants to perform at Vauhtiajoki as agreed on Saturday 22.7.2023.
