Rochdale MP Tony Lloyd has stepped down from the front bench after a spell in intensive care with coronavirus.
The veteran Labour MP, 70, will now focus on his recovery, the party has announced.
He was discharged from intensive care at Manchester Royal Infirmary last week.
Mr Lloyd served as shadow Northern Ireland secretary for two years.
But he will now be replaced by shadow policing minister Louise Haigh, who has been covering the role in his absence.
