A week and a half after Robert F. Kennedy’s granddaughter, Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, and her eight-year-old son, Gideon McKean, died in the Chesapeake Bay, the 911 call from their tragic canoe incident was released.

Maryland police announced Wednesday that they have recovered the body of 8-year-old Gideon McKean. The announcement comes two days after police found the body of Gideon’s mother, Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, and nearly a week after the pair disappeared after paddling a canoe into Chesapeake Bay.

There is heartbreak in the Kennedy household this week as the cause of death for Maeve Kennedy Townsend, the granddaughter of Robert F Kennedy, has been revealed.

Officials revealed on Wednesday, April 8, that Maeve McKean accidentally drowned in the turbulent waters of the Chesapeake Bay after a canoeing accident happened with her 8-year-old son. Her cause and manner of death was confirmed by a spokesman for the state’s chief medical examiner, which is handling the case.

The granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy is the latest member of the famous clan to die young.
