Nothing says spring is here quite like the moment you can finally ditch your chunky winter boots and slip on a pair of sandals and with open-toe season finally here, now is the perfect time to start thinking about which pair you’re going to be wearing this season.
There’s nothing quite as timeless as a pair of slip-on mules, and we can’t get enough of River Island’s latest launch. The Beige Monogram Buckle Mule Sandals, £30 here, are not only a chic, statement-making option all on their own, but they’re also giving us some serious Gucci vibes with a considerably more budget-friendly price tag.
Just like the Gucci Jolie Leather-Trimmed Embellished Logo-Detailed Canvas Slides, £490 here, the River Island mules have a beige and brown canvas strap over the toes, with an ultra-low heel and backless, slip on design that’s ideal for the warmer weather.
They also have a monogrammed print embroidered all across them, with the River Island ‘RI’ logo covering the strap and side of the mules. However, Gucci’s version has an all-black sole and heel, with simple gold hardware designed in the brand’s signature interlocking GG logo fixed to the front.
The River Island pair, on the other hand, have gone for gold snaffle horse bit hardware on the front, which is a definite nod to Gucci’s equestrian-inspired heritage.
The bit is also affixed with a red and green striped strap, with the overall effect giving off a definite Gucci-inspired look.
The mule-style sandals are easy to style, and make a great versatile addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. For slightly cooler days, wear them with a pair of wide leg jeans and a long sleeved T-shirt whilst running errands, or pair with some tapered trousers and a T-shirt for slightly smarter
