Richard Pratt was the bass singer with Philadelphia soul group Blue Magic, known for hits including “Sideshow.”We invite you to share condolences for Richard Pratt in our Guest Book.Pratt was a founding member of Blue Magic in 1972 in Philadelphia. Some of their earliest singles were moderately successful on R&B radio, including 1973’s “Spell” and “Stop to Start.” Their biggest success came in 1974 with “Sideshow,” a slow and dreamy ballad with a circus theme.
It rose to No. 1 on the R&B chart and made it to the top 10 of the Hot 100.
Blue Magic followed that hit with another circus-themed song, “Three Ring Circus,” which also had significant airplay on R&B and top 40 radio. They continued to chart R&B hits through the late 1980s, though Pratt left the group in the early ‘80s.
In later years, he formed the splinter group Richard Pratt’s Blue Magic. The band reunited in 2018 to appear on the music documentary TV series “Unsung.”It is with a Heavy Broken Heart that I have lost my Brother/Best Friend Richard Pratt.
He was my friend Before our group…This is a hard pill for me to swallow. RIP Richard Pratt #bluemagic forever

WESH.But opponents say that, despite the bill’s intent or language, in practice, teachers and administrators — even at the secondary levels — will preemptively ban any mention of LGBTQ issues for fear of being sued by litigious parents, sending an implicit message to LGBTQ youth that there is something wrong with them.Other opponents say the bill is a way for Republicans to pander to socially conservative voters ahead of the 2022 midterm elections this November — and for DeSantis to shore up his bona fides among socially conservative Republican primary voters for a future White House run — by demonizing LGBTQ youth. They point to a controversial House amendment, which was scrapped prior to the final vote following a public backlash, which would have required teachers, counselors, and administrators to “out” students to their parents within six weeks of any disclosure by the student regarding their identity, as evidence that the bill is motivated by anti-LGBTQ animus.“In your effort to elect Ron DeSantis and send him to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I just ask you: Is it worth it? Is it worth it if one child is affected by this piece of legislation, what you’re doing today, I ask you: Is it worth it? Is it worth a child being outed or bullied or potentially becoming suicidal?” Sen.
