Richard Hawley announces fourth and final show to help support Sheffield Leadmill

NEW YORK -- Carnegie Hall plans a return to a relatively full schedule next season for the first time since 2018-19, presenting about 150 events that include Kirill Petrenko’s first New York appearances as music director of the Berlin Philharmonic.Carnegie announced a 2022-23 schedule Tuesday that includes about 50 events in 2,800-seat Stern Auditorium. Petrenko, who succeeded Simon Rattle as Berlin's chief conductor for the 2019-20 season, leads three performances from Nov.

Tom Grennan is recovering following an “unprovoked attack” outside a bar in New York earlier this week, which resulted in the cancellation of a performance in Washington DC, which was due to take place tonight.The musician’s manager, John Dawkins of Various Artists Management, said in a statement last night: “In the early hours of this morning after Tom’s New York show he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and robbery outside a bar in Manhattan. Tom is currently in hospital being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn eardrum and issue with his previously fractured jaw”.He added that Grennan was in “good spirits” but will need to “temporarily recuperate whilst doctors assess his ability to continue with his touring”.

Sam Fender has announced details of an intimate charity show that he’ll play in Newcastle next month.The ‘Seventeen Going Under’ artist will return to his native north east on May 24 for a special gig at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall, marking the first time that he will have played live at the 2600-capacity venue.The show will raise money for North East Homeless, who provide support to those who are vulnerable and homeless in the north east of England, as well as food and emergency equipment at street outreach sessions.Fender, who is a patron of the charity, dedicated his BRIT Award for Alternative/Rock Act to the organisation back in February.This is going to be next level. Warpaint have shared a slinky new single titled ‘Hips’, coinciding with the news of a 14-date run of North American shows.‘Hips’ is the third single to come from Warpaint’s upcoming fourth album, ‘Radiate Like This’ – due out on May 6 via Heirlooms/Virgin – following the release of ‘Champion’ in January and ‘Stevie’ last month.First announced back in January, ‘Radiate Like This’ will mark the LA indie rockers’ first studio album in six years; their prior effort, ‘Heads Up’, dropped in September of 2016.Listen to ‘Hips’ below:Following a run in the UK and Europe – which ends with an appearance at this year’s Primavera Sound – Warpaint will embark on two short stints across North America. Richard Hawley has unveiled details of two shows to help support Sheffield’s Leadmill venue, which is at risk of closure.These will be Hawley’s first headline shows at the Leadmill since 2005 and the announcement comes after news that the iconic Sheffield venue is under threat of closure.Last month, the venue told music fans of the “devastating news that in one year’s time, our Landlord is trying to evict us, forcing us to close” – leading to an outpouring of upset and support from the music world.Hawley, who had previously shared his support for the venue after the news was shared, said in a statement: “Richard first played the Leadmill in 1984 with his then band Treebound Story. In the following decades he has played the venue more times than probably any other musician.
