Emergency services rushed to Bolton town centre today after a man fell 'from a height' into a river.
Firefighters, paramedics, and police were all called to the the River Croal, near to St Edmund Street and King Street, just before midday today (Thursday, January 27).
The ambulance service said that the man had 'fallen from a height down an embankment... into a culvert'.

Firefighters used 'specialised equipment to gain access to rescue the man' before paramedics treated him at the scene and took him to hospital.
A spokesperson from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At approximately 11.40am on Thursday, 27th January, firefighters were called to an incident involving a man stuck on the banks of the River Croal, in Bolton, near to St Edmund Street.
“Firefighters from Bolton and Bolton North fire stations, alongside the Technical Rescue Unit from Leigh and the Water Incident Unit from Heywood, quickly attended the scene.
“Firefighters used a ladder and other specialist equipment to gain access and rescue the man. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 40 minutes.”
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust said in a statement: "We were called to an incident at 11.58am reporting a patient had fallen from a height down an embankment on King Street, Bolton into a culvert.
"He received treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital."
