Remembering Andrew Weatherall, the UK Producer Who Bridged Rock and Dance Music

The royal family continues to grow on. ET has learned that Thomas Byrne has been cast as Prince Andrew in season four. The newcomer, who has had bit roles as a child actor, will portray Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s third child in his 20s as the series moves into the 1980s.

British music producer, DJ and record-label founder Andrew Weatherall, who co-produced Primal Scream’s landmark 1991 album “Screamadelica” and helped bring the acid house genre into the mainstream, died Monday in a London hospital from a pulmonary embolism, his management confirmed to the Guardian. He was 56.

English DJ and producer Andrew Weatherall has died of a pulmonary embolism, his management announced today (February 17). He was 56 years old. Weatherall’s management said in a statement, “He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful.”
