The race for Erling Haaland is not over, according to a family friend.
Reports this week have claimed that Manchester City have agreed a contract with the Borussia Dortmund striker that would see him become the Premier League’s highest earner on £500,000-a-week. They say the deal is not over the line just yet with bonuses and commissions still to be finalised, but City are bracing to trigger the £63m release clause in his contract.
However, Real Madrid’s interest remains alive. Family friend and former Norway footballer-turned-journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has underlined that he believes an agreement has not been made.

He tweeted on Tuesday: “Like I have reported for months, Erling Haaland could end up at Manchester City and Real Madrid. The two favourites. But NO agreement so far.”
Meanwhile, AC Milan are reportedly upping their pursuit of England international Raheem Sterling. The attacker is supposedly considering his future at the Etihad.
Milan are the subject of an impending £850m Bahraini takeover and are eyeing a £250m transfer splash this summer. Among other names on the Serie A giants’ wish list is Liverpool striker Divock Origi. Real Madrid striker Marco Asensio and former West Ham attacker Sebastian Haller of Ajax.
The Mirror reports that Sterling could be one of the first to join. No transfer fee has been quoted but it's unlikely be extortionate given the player only has just over 12 months left on his City deal.
