Rapper Gunna Jailed in Atlanta on Racketeering Charge With Young Thug

ATLANTA -- Rappers Young Thug and Gunna remained jailed on racketeering charges Monday in Atlanta following a court hearing in a case in which prosecutors have accused them of being members of a violent street gang that committed multiple murders, shootings and carjackings.A judge denied bond for Gunna, whose given name is Sergio Kitchens, after the rapper pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. Fulton County prosecutors asked that he remain jailed, telling the judge some state witnesses have been threatened.A bond hearing for Young Thug, whose given name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was postponed until next month, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Lil Keed, a rising Atlanta rapper signed to Young Thug’s YSL Records and 300 Entertainment, died on Friday, aged 24. Cause of death has not been disclosed.

Lil Keed has died, according to reports in Complex and XXL and an Instagram statement by Lil Gotit, Keed's brother. No cause of death was revealed in the 24-year-old Atlanta rapper's passing.

Shirley Ju Raqhid Jevon Render, who was known by his rapper stage name Lil Keed and was a frontrunner of Young Thug’s Young Stoner Life Records label, has died. He was 24 years old.Render’s death was confirmed by his label on Saturday morning.

Young Thug‘s lawyer has hit out at the rapper’s “dungeon like” prison conditions in an emergency filing.Brian Steel said the rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was being held in “solitary confinement” in a “windowless cement compartment with only a bed and a toilet and an overhead light which remains on 24 hours per day,” according to a motion filed today (May 13) (via Rolling Stone).He also alleged that his client can’t sleep, rest, or meditate due to the disorienting environment and has “no opportunity to exercise, shower or have human contact.”“Mr. Williams, an innocent man, who is wholly isolated from the world, must obtain immediate relief,” Steel added.It comes after Williams was arrested on gang-related charges earlier this week.He is one of 28 people charged in an indictment that focuses on the alleged street gang YSL (“Young Slime Life”), believed to have formed in Atlanta in 2012.
