A pair of thugs tortured and killed a popular radio DJ before dumping his body in a wooded area. Mehmet Koray Alpergin and his girlfriend Gozde Dalbudak were kidnapped while walking home from an Italian restaurant in central London last October, according to Essex Live.
They were then taken to an empty wine bar on White Hart Lane, near the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Mr Alpergin, 43, was viciously beaten and throttled, had boiling water poured on him, was stabbed, maimed and horrifically violated before his body was dumped in an Essex woodland.
At the time of the torture, Ms Dalbudak was locked in a toilet at the bar by her captors. The 34-year-old spent two days locked in before they released her and gave her money for a taxi home.
During the horrific incident, it was heard the victim called out "My love, don't be scared" and "Sorry, my love" to Ms Dalbudak in between cries of pain as he was beaten. She has since returned to her home in Turkey.
The court was told the killing bore "all the hallmarks" of gangland activity and the drug underworld. Two men, Tejean Kennedy, 33, and Ali Kavak, 26, have been found guilty of the kidnap and false imprisonment of the couple and Mr Alpergin's manslaughter.
Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 35, was found guilty of two counts of kidnap. Steffan Gordon, 34, had admitted kidnap and was found guilty of two counts of false imprisonment.
Kavak was also convicted of perverting the course of justice by helping to dispose of Mr Alpergin's body and destroying two vehicles by fire. Owusu-Opoku admitted the charge.
The victim was a well-known figure in the British Turkish community, having originally come from northern Cyprus, and owned Bizim FM - a Turkish radio station in London.
