Grammy-Nominated R&B singer Jesse Powell has passed away at age 51.
Jesse was best known for the 1996 R&B hit “You,” which hit number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the R&B charts. He would go on to release four studio albums. His younger sisters Trina and Tamara are also R&B singers.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Jesse Powell,” his sister Tamara wrote in an Instagram post. “The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy.”
