Queen Consort Camilla will be "absolutely terrified" on Coronation Day because she will want everything to go to plan, her former butler has claimed. The 75 year old royal is not in the relationship with King Charles for the pomp and ceremony and would rather be doing something else, according to Grant Harrold.
Grant, who worked for Charles, 74, and Camilla for seven years, went on to say that while the King is unlikely to feel any nerves on the day, he will worry about things going “perfectly”. King Charles’ Coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May.
Grant told The Mirror: “Camilla is such a kind, kind lady and genuinely, she is not in it for this. She really loves the King, I've seen that so she is doing it to support him.
If you said to her tomorrow, would you rather do something else, she would rather do something else.” Grant went on to say that Camilla will be there and do it though, because it was what she signed up for. He added: “I will really feel for her on the day as I think she will be absolutely terrified, wanting to make sure it all goes right because she didn't ask for it.” He continued: "The only thing that will worry [Charles] is he is very particular, he likes everything done and things to go perfectly - and for him, I think he will be focused on making sure everybody knows what they are doing.” This comes as Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles hit back at claims that his mother had played an “end game” to become Queen – saying she “just married the person she loved”.
