Her Majesty the Queen is famous for hosting the most luxurious events for family and dignitaries around the world. But there’s one thing you’ll never find at her parties - garlic! It’s bad enough having less-than-pleasant breath at a dinner or evening do, but imagine if you’re the Queen who everybody wants to chat with. It’s a no-go, says Party Architect Johnny Roxburgh.
Johnny’s a legend in his field, who’s designed incredible events from Prince William’s 21st birthday party to the Queen’s annual Christmas knees up. Ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, he exclusively tells OK!: “The Queen bans garlic from parties - it’s difficult to talk to people if you’ve got frightful breath.” But that’s not the only food that can face a ban behind palace walls. Even what the waiters eat is considered.
Johnny adds: “Detail is everything at royal events. They consider what the waiters eat before serving, too. If you’re working at a party for the Queen, you can’t have curry the night before. Imagine that aroma wafting around at a state banquet!” Her Majesty’s been getting into the party mood with not one but two public appearances - delighting royal fans with her beaming smile.
Our monarch looked the picture of health as she opened London’s Elizabeth Line last week alongside her son, Prince Edward. Then, on Monday, she toured the fabulous gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. No walking stick was needed, as Her Majesty was treated to a chauffeur-driven tour of the grounds in an electric buggy worth a whopping £62,000.
