A pub less than an hours drive away from Greater Manchester has been named among the best for a Sunday lunch in the UK. The Cholmondeley Arms in Malpas, Cheshire, is known locally as 'The Chum' and has been highlighted in The Guardian's list of the UK's top 30 Sunday lunch venues.
The pub is in an old schoolhouse converted in the 1980s with food placing an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients, CheshireLive reports. There are pheasant goujons to start or a 'pub and seafood' platter to share. For something a bit different there are devilled lamb's kidneys.
For mains a 28-day aged sirloin steak is a constant feature. The steak is served with all the trimmings including Yorkshire puddings, duck fat roasted potatoes, greens, all drowned in red wine gravy. There is a roasted chicken supreme too.

There's fish in the form of salmon, cod, or haddock and a game menu including a braised venison haunch. There is a lack of vegetarian options however but this will be no cause for concern for game fans out there. It's perfect fuel for The Cholmondeley Arms pub walk.
The deserts offer up all the classics with jam roly-poly, sticky toffee pudding, and black forest mess. There's a lovely fire to cosy up to after all this hearty food.
There's also rooms available if it's a snooze needed after this feast with a selection of ales and 366 gins to choose from to wash it all down. The Higher Buck, in Waddington, Lancashire, also made The Guardian's list.
