EXCLUSIVES: The Joes are dusting off their sports kits for the first time in 13 years.
Pros Vs Joes, the Noughties physical gameshow is being rebooted in the U.S. and brought to Europe for the first time, after Belgian formats distributor Glow Media took on the format.
Glow plans to showcase the show at Mipcom next month, with original series creator My Entertainment also involved in the relaunch.
Originally broadcast on Viacom owned Spike (now Paramount Network), Pros Vs Joes aired for five seasons between 2006-2010 produced Michael Yudin’s My Enterainment. It pitted ordinary ‘Joes’ with love and skill for multiple sports again famous sport stars. The most successful Joe would be crowned the winner.
Athletes who featured included Dennis Rodman, Michael Irvin, Darryl Strawberry, Roy Jones Jr, Randy Couture and Bill Goldberg, with more 150+ Hall of Famers appearing in total.
Glow has updated the format ahead of its relaunch.
“I have chased this format for ages,” said Glow Media’s Managing Director, Siobhan Crawford. “We are in a time where older, familiar brands are out-performing new launches, where sports adjacent programming is in demand and everyone loves an underdog story. Now redeveloped, this format is stronger than ever.”
Formats industry veteran Crawford launched Glow in 2022 alongside Belgian production house Free Kings. The company sources, distributes and develops content, with a focus on connecting Europe and the U.S.
The original’s show My Entertainment launched in 2000 as an indie producer focused on creating digital and linear content. It was sold to Media Content Services last year.
