A significant investment project to help alleviate sewer flooding in Stewarton begins later this month.
Properties along David Dale Avenue have historically been affected by internal and external flooding during periods of heavy rain.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager in the west said ahead of work getting underway on on Monday, May 22: “Sewer flooding can cause a great deal of distress for communities and so we are delighted to see the first phase of these works come to fruition following many months of planning, and the completion of preparatory works at the end of last summer.”
Temporary road traffic management has been agreed upon with East Ayrshire Council and will be in place from Monday, May 22 until around mid-July.
During this time, a short section of David Dale Avenue near the junction of Fleming Drive will be closed to traffic.
A signed diversion will be in place via Fleming Drive, Morton Road and Crusader Crescent. However, access to properties on David Dale Avenue will be maintained and the footpath will be open.
The temporary over-pumping which has been in place since last year will be removed once the new waste water pipes have been installed.
Ms Reid added: “Plans are also being finalised for phase two of this project which will help address external flooding experienced by some customers in the vicinity of Lainshaw Primary School. More information will be communicated about phase two when it is possible to do so.”
“Meantime, during the first phase, there might be occasions when access to some of the paths in Lainshaw Woods is impacted but this is only expected for short spells. As always, we will do all we can to minimise any disruption during both phases of these works and thank

Marta Balaga Debuting Chilean director Felipe Gálvez doesn’t shy away from controversy. On the contrary: he actually welcomes it. “I love to be controversial,” he tells Variety in Cannes, where he is introducing blood-soaked Western “The Settlers,” posing some uncomfortable questions about his country’s colonial past. “If something is controversial, it’s a good sign. It means it’s interesting. I am trying to provoke with my film, because this conversation is far from over.” Set in 1901, “The Settlers” sees three men (Benjamin Westfall, Mark Stanley and Camilo Arancibia) hired by a rich Spanish landowner (Alfredo Castro) to mark out his immense property. One is American, one Scottish, one of Indigenous descent. But what is really expected of them is to get rid of the Indigenous tribes.

Anthony Silva told WCVB-TV he originally spent around $1,800 for the four tickets last November on StubHub, a ticket reseller site, but the ducats were never delivered, and the company told him replacement seats weren’t available. “That’s just not right,” Silva told the station, adding that he decided to shell out $21,000 on another reseller site for the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer’s Saturday show that his daughter and her friends had their hearts set on at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. He said while StubHub plans to refund his original purchase, he doesn’t think resellers should wait “until the day before for the tickets to be sent out.” Fox News Digital has reached out to StubHub for comment.
