A neighbour who set fire to a woman’s house has been jailed for 18 months. Ann Campbell, 54, targeted Michelle McDade over a year.
She sparked two fires at her property in Hamilton by dropping burning objects from her window.
Michelle, who lived downstairs, was asleep at the time of the second blaze and was only alerted to the danger by her dog barking.
She managed to escape but collapsed on the street. Last month, Campbell was convicted at Hamilton Sheriff Court of two charges of wilful fireraising in May and August 2021.
Jailing Campbell yesterday, Sheriff Colin Dunipace told her: “Had it not been for the fact you are a first offender then the sentence would have been more.”
