Prince William & Kate Middleton Cancel Belize Trip Amid Protests About Colonialism

It seems Prince Harry’s Prince William birthday invite won’t be going out in the mail anytime soon. The Duke of Cambridge has reportedly decided not to invite his younger brother, or Meghan Markle, to his milestone 40th birthday party over the summer.

The Duchess wore her hair in a stylish updo and kept her make-up simple, as part of a look that was very different to the trouser suit she wore to meet Jamaica’s prime minister elsewhere on the couple’s trip.

Prince William has addressed the “abhorrent” slavery that used to take place in Jamaica during his tour of the Caribbean with wife Kate Middleton. The pair arrived in Jamaica on Tuesday 22 March, and have since attended a black tie dinner at the official residence of the Governor-General of the country. For the event, mum-of-three Kate, 40, donned a beautiful off-the-shoulder green gown with ruffle retailing, as William, 39, wore a black suit and bowtie.The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were all smiles as they posed for photos with Governor General of Jamaica Sir Patrick Allen and his wife, Patricia.

Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoyed their first full day of their Caribbean tour with a visit to a cacao farm in Belize on Sunday.  Their visit replaced another planned outing to a different cacao farm, which was canceled on Friday after villagers protested the royal’s arrival.  According to local reports, a protest was staged on Friday opposing the royal visit to Akte ’il Ha cacao farm in Indian Creek village in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Belize news outlet Channel 7 reported that there was a dispute between village residents and Flora and Fauna International, a conservation charity William supports as patron.

The local villagers were also upset that the royal couple was scheduled to land their helicopter on land that's at the center of an ownership rights dispute.The indigenous Mayan village of Indian Creek in southern Belize are protesting the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Belize.

Queen Elizabeth II, is intended to strengthen the U.K.’s ties with Commonwealth countries as the queen marks 70 years on the throne.But the trip suffered a hitch before the couple set out, when a planned visit to a cacao farm in the Central American nation of Belize was scrapped because of local opposition.According to local reports, a protest was staged on Friday opposing the royal visit to Akte ’il Ha cacao farm in Indian Creek village in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Amid Prince William and Duchess Kate’s Caribbean tour, they’ve been forced to rearrange their schedule.

Kate Middleton took the time to honor Ukraine in her attire at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in London. Kate was joined by her husband, Prince William, father-in-law, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, at the service. Queen Elizabeth II was not in attendance. The 40-year-old Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in a stunning royal blue Catherine Walker coat and matching Sean Barratt hat for the occasion.

Prince William continues to face criticism over the comments he made about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this week.

There has been some controversy surrounding the comments that Prince William made this week while visiting the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London.

Prince William was slammed by Martin Luther King Jr.‘s daughter, Bernice King, on March 10 after he was accused of making “horrific comments” about Ukraine. It was during a Ukrainian community event, when William and Kate Middleton visited the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London to support the relief effort on March 9. While there, he said, “Everyone is horrified by what they are seeing. The news every day, it’s almost unfathomable to actually witness it, to see it. For our generation, it’s very alien to see this in Europe. We’re all right behind you.”
