As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle settle into their new life, the royal couple have laid off their London staff, PEOPLE confirms. The staff were told in person in January, reported The Daily Mail, the first to break the news of the couple’s Buckingham Palace office closure.

It’s been over a month since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world by announcing their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family, and now Prince William and Kate Middleton are following in their footsteps.

A close friend of Prince Harry shared that the Duke of Sussex has "suffered a lot" in the midst of his decision to step down from the royal family. “He's being a father," said Nacho Figueras during a televised ABC News Special.
