Prince Charles would be "saddened" if Megan Markle's latest tell-all interview led to him losing his relationship with Prince Harry, sources claim. The Duchess of Sussex spoke openly about she and Harry's decision to step down from their role as senior royals in a new bombshell interview with US magazine The Cut - and claimed they were 'happy' to leave the UK.
However, her latest revelations have caused a stir within the royal family, with the Prince of Wales reportedly hurt by Meghan's suggestion that Harry had 'lost' her father. The former actress told The Cut: "Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision."
According to the Mirror, a source close to the future King said he would be upset if his Harry felt their relationship could not be saved, saying: "The Prince of Wales loves both his sons". Meghan's team have since said her comments have been misconstrued, as the 41-year-old was actually referring to her own father, Thomas Markle, who she has not been in contact with since the royal wedding in 2018.
Prince Charles stepped in last minute to walk Meghan down the aisle at her wedding to Harry at Windsor Castle. But Harry's relationship with his father has been said to be tense since the couple's departure from being working royals.
He said during their televised interview with Oprah Winfrey last year that Charles had stopped taking his calls. In her latest interview Meghan, who is currently promoting her new podcast Archetypes, said the family's move to the US was necessary to secure financial freedom.
