New research has revealed the 'best' wellness retreats across the UK, and a popular Scottish destination has come in at number one.
With Easter fast approaching, many people will be looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle. According to researchers at vaping.com, online interest in ‘wellness retreats’ has spiked by 555 per cent.
There are many luxurious getaways dotted around the nation, so the experts took to TripAdvisor to discover which wellness retreats are the most popular based on ratings and reviews. They found that the number one pick is The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.
With 4,093 five-star TripAdvisor reviews, and an average rating of 4.5 stars, the luxury hotel and spa is the best wellness retreat to visit in the UK, according to the research. Situated near the small town of Auchterarder, Gleneagles is a three-storey category B listed building that dates back to 1924 and includes over 200 rooms.
The hotel describes its rooms as "glorious as the landscape that frames them, with a luxury five-star hotel feel". Each one has been individually inspired by the mountains, meadows, rivers, and lakes of the nearby Perthshire countryside.
Gleneagles is also home to a two-Michelin star restaurant, Gleneagles Andrew Fairlie, where guests are treated to exceptional cooking in a truly opulent environment. Other highlights of the hotel include its tranquil spa, and multiple swimming pools.
Another Scottish wellness retreat, EcoYoga Centre in the Scottish Highlands, also appears on the list at number 12. With 11 TripAdvisor reviews, and nine of them giving it a five-star rating, the river-side retreat is suited to those interested in "yoga, natural bathing and sustainable eco living".
