Officers on patrol in the Cheetham Hill area yesterday (Monday) stopped the man on Bury New Road. They said he was 'acting suspiciously'.
They searched him and found he was carrying around £10,000 in cash. Police then carried out a search on his house and found another £8,000 there.

The 51-year-old has now been arrested on suspicion of money laundering. He remains in police custody to be quizzed by detectives.
The stop-and-search was carried out by officers working on Operation Vulcan, GMP's drive to clean up the area around Strangeways and Bury New Road known as 'Counterfeit Street'.
Detective Chief Inspector Jen Kelly, one of Operation Vulcan’s leading officers, said: "The counterfeit shops in Cheetham Hill and Strangeways are extremely lucrative businesses that are turning over thousands of pounds worth of profit daily, all of which is being funnelled into serious organised crime and funding drugs, weapons, trafficking, and exploitation in the area and across the region.
"Today’s arrest is an excellent example of Operation Vulcan’s relentless policing. Let this be a warning to anyone else who believes they are above the law and can continue to carry on this way.
"Our officers are in Cheetham Hill and Strangeways on a daily basis, it’s only a matter of time before you’re caught out."
