A number of schools across Manchester were put into 'lockdown' today after what police called 'malicious communications' were sent to them.
The M.E.N. has seen an email understood to be from a primary school in Wythenshawe sent to parents of pupils. It said the school received 'a threat in an email this morning', and went on to say other schools in the Manchester area did as well.
The police visited and deemed everything to be safe after checks, added the email.

Multiple schools in Chorlton have emailed parents to inform them about the 'lockdown' and reassure them that children are safe. The M.E.N. has seen emails from Oswald Road Primary School and Kenwood nursery.
At Oswald Road Primary, 'all external doors have been locked'. Lessons, however, are being carried out as normal.
In an email sent to parents, which has been seen by the M.E.N., Oswald Road Primary School said: "School has put into partial lockdown - this means teaching will be taking place as usual, but nobody can come in or out of the building. Please not come to school at this time."
A further email added: "Please note that all children are safe and there is no threat in the building. All external doors have been locked and currently normal school activities are still taking place.
"We appreciate this is highly concerning, however we would urge parents not to call the office at this point so that we can continue to keep the phone lines clear."
In an update, police confirmed investigations were ongoing, but said they 'do not believe these communications to have any credible threat'.
