Police hunting a gunman in Lancashire have tracked down the car used by the suspect more than 60 miles away in Tameside. Detectives are investigating a shooting in Heysham, near Morecambe, on Monday.
Lancashire Police says the offender arrived in Heysham with another person in a red Skoda Fabia. Officers have since tracked down the car in Droylsden, and crime scene investigators have been working in the area to gather evidence.
The force was called at around 4pm on Monday with reports that someone had approached an address on Heysham Road before shooting at the front door and fleeing the scene. Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

Police are treating the incident as a targeted attack and do not believe there is any wider threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing in both Heysham and Droylsden.
Detectives are trying to identify the two people who were in the red Skoda and anyone with information about who they might be is urged to contact Lancashire Police. Det Supt Becky Smith, of Lancashire Police, said: “We know this incident has caused concern in the community but we would like to reassure residents that incidents such as this are very rare and we are taking it extremely seriously and have a dedicated team of officers working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
“We know [on Monday] people in the area had a lot of questions about the incident, and that there was a good deal of speculation on social media. However, we are now in a position to reassure you that we do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.
