Billy Kametz has unfortunately lost his battle with cancer.
The Pokemon voice actor, who many fans will recognize as Ren, passed away at the age of 35 on June 9.
His agent, A. Jinnie McManus, confirmed the news with PennLive, saying, “Billy lived his dream as a fan of Japanese animation and video games who grew up to act in beloved roles that will now stand forever as his legacy.”
“At conventions, he was a popular guest who cherished meeting his fans. After all, he was once one of them. Even during the worst of his illness, he remained upbeat and determined. The world is darker without him and I will miss my friend terribly,” Jinnie added.
Billy revealed that the cancer had spread to his liver, lungs and spine in a recent Instagram video.
“I’m not going to quit,” he said at the time. “I’m not gonna stop fighting and I’m going to get through this.”
In addition to voicing Ren, Billy also provided the voice of Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Nicolo in Attack on Titan.
