Piers Morgan has taken aim at Good Morning Britain’s viewing figures ahead of the launch of his TalkTV show Uncensored. The broadcaster famously quit the ITV programme last March after saying he did not believe the Meghan Markle’s remarks in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she spoke about her mental health. His comments were criticised by mental health charity Mind and prompted more than 50,000 complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, and a formal complaint to ITV from Meghan.
Piers is now preparing to make his grand return to television on April 25 and couldn’t help but make a dig at Good Morning Britain’s expense. ‘I wont be looking to steal Good Morning Britain viewers, I will just be looking to pick up all those who stopped watching it, which, judging by the ratings is a lot of people,’ he told Metro. co.
uk. ‘If you loved Good Morning Britain when I was on it, and you miss me in that way, you know where to find me. ‘There’s a lot of people who I think were annoyed by what went down, so they’d be the ones I’d be after.
’Oh, the shade of it all!Piers isn’t the only broadcaster to launch a programme on TalkTV later this month, as Sharon Osbourne will also be at the helm of a primetime current affairs panel show called The Talk on weeknights. Her hour-long show will feature five ‘opinionated famous faces’ from different backgrounds and with different views as they discuss issues such as news, politics, crime, entertainment and sport. Sharon stressed that The Talk will be nothing like Loose Women and insisted they are ‘totally different beasts’.
