Staff at Good Morning Britain are reported to have threatened to boycott the show if former host Piers Morgan returned as a guest.
Morgan caused a stir after storming out of the programme after fellow presented Alex Beresford challenged him over his criticism of Meghan Markle.
Now Morgan is doing the rounds promoting his new show Uncensored, but some staff at GMB have threatened to "down tools" if he returned as a guest.
Bosses at ITV were forced to come up with a hasty compromise, instead putting the controversial former GMB host on Lorraine.
Alex Beresford had criticised Morgan over his claim that he didn't believe Meghan Markle's claim that she had felt suicidal, with Morgan responding to the criticism by walking off the set.
One insider told The Mirror : "Piers has made it quite clear what he thinks of GMB since he flounced out.
"Barely a day goes by without him sniping that ratings are down, and that he was the best thing about the show."
Piers refused to apologise for his actions during the incident, and was subsequently axed from the show by ITV bosses.
He later claimed that he walked off set to avoid "slapping" Alex.
Sources at ITV claimed that the decision to schedule Morgan on Lorraine was "editorial", saying that the pair's history together on GMB made it a "good fit".
They also downplayed the threats of a walkout on GMB if Morgan made an appearance.
Morgan recently invited Meghan Markle to interview with him on his new show on TalkTV as an attempt at reconciliation, saying that he would ask her "difficult" questions.
The former GMB host said: "If she did an interview like this with me, it'd be very interesting. Meghan Markle to me has lost all sense of reality about life.
