Politico shared the photos in an exclusive story and reported that the date the photos were taken is unclear, but they appear to have been taken after his car accident in 2014. The photos were provided to the outlet by someone who was formerly close to Cawthorn and his campaign.
People on social media have figured out that the photos were likely taken on a Royal Caribbean cruise during the Quest game show.
Just this week, Cawthorn tweeted about his views on gender, saying, “There’s only one God and two genders.”
“I think that we have bred a generation of soft men and that generation has created a lot of problems in our society and our culture,” he said in March 2021 on a podcast “designed to reclaim and restore masculinity in a society that is ever more dismissive of what it means to be a man.”
Cawthorn was recently disavowed by Republican leaders when he made comments about the “sexual perversion” in Washington. He has also suggested that Nancy Pelosi has a drinking problem, called Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “thug,” and house court dates scheduled for traffic violations.
Late last year, it was announced that Cawthorn was getting divorced after eight months of marriage.
