Comedy legend Peter Kay has made his return to the stage – five years after stepping out of the public eye. The 48 year old comedian kickstarted his Dance For Life tour on Friday 15 April at Manchester Central Convention Complex. During the three hour ‘dance-a-thon’, which is raising money for Cancer Research UK, the comedian turned DJ as he treated his audience to everything from S Club to House of Pain.
Dubbed “the dance-a-thon party that will change lives,” the series of events, which will also take place in London and Liverpool, feature various singing and dancing performances from the TV personality. As part of the occasion, Peter could be seen wearing a very 80s choice of outfit which consisted of a bright headband, a vinyl patterned jacket and some gold jogging bottoms.
Addressing the crowd, he joked: “A lot of you won’t get a chance to dance anymore. “If you’re like me, it’ll be every four years at a wedding for about 11 minutes until they play something modern and you sit down because you feel about 100!” Having originally organised the event to take place in 2020, Covid restrictions forced the Car Share star to reschedule the event. After leaving fans concerned when he abruptly cancelled his 2018 tour due to “unforeseen family circumstances”, the national treasure has largely kept out of the spotlight.
