Jackman stars as a father whose 17-year-old son comes to live with him after deciding he can no longer stay with his mother (Dern) years after his parents’ divorce. Jackson’s character, Peter, has a new partner, Kirby’s Beth. As Peter overextends himself to give his son a better life.

The Son star Hugh Jackman told the Venice press corps today that his role in the film has had an impact on how he behaves with his own kids. “For many, many years as a parent the job was to appear strong and dependable and never worried and I don’t want to burden my children. But certainly since this movie I’ve changed my approach. I share my vulnerabilities more with my 17- and 22-year-old and I see their relief when I do.”

Naman Ramachandran Florian Zeller and the cast of his “The Son,” including Hugh Jackman, Vanessa Kirby, Laura Dern and Zen McGrath, addressed the issue of mental health, the film’s central subject, ahead of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film, Zeller’s follow up to his Oscar-winning “The Father,” is an adaptation of his own stage play. It focuses on Peter (Jackman), whose busy but happy life with his infant and new partner Beth (Kirby) is disrupted when his ex-wife Kate (Dern) informs him about their teenage son Nicholas (McGrath), who has been missing from school for months and is disturbed. Addressing a press conference at Venice, Zeller said that he wanted to “explore these very emotional territories in a very honest and humble way” and that his work with the cast “was such a joyful, truthful and intense journey that we shared.”

It also plays “The Son” by Florian Zeller. “Of the 145 films in this year’s festival program, we are able to show more than a quarter of them as world or European premieres – more than ever before in the festival’s history,” Christian Jungen, artistic director, says. “We are particularly proud to be holding the European premieres of Gina Prince-Bythewood’s historical epic ‘The Woman King,’ in which Academy Award-winner Viola Davis leads an international Black cast, as well as the gay romantic comedy ‘Bros’ by Nicholas Stoller, who cast all LGBTQ+ actors for the film. These two movies are a testament to the diverse talent working in Hollywood cinema, and we are very excited to be bringing them to a European audience.”

Florian Zeller’s follow-up to “The Father,” titled “The Son,” is based on a trilogy of plays he wrote, which also include “The Mother.” Zeller adapted “The Father” as a film in 2020, starring Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, Olivia Williams, and Rufus Sewell, to critical acclaim. Hopkins went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 93rd Oscars, infamously not being present to accept the award, stating that he wasn’t expecting to win in an Instagram post he released the day after.  Zeller also won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for “The Father,” and stated in his acceptance speech that Hopkins is “the greatest living actor.

The latest trailer of ‘the Mission Impossible franchise, “Mission Impossible 7” was leaked onto Twitter this weekend, and now it’s officially out. The official trailer was screened at CinemaCon in April, with lead-star, Tom Cruise showing off the trailer to patrons of the event.

The trailer shows the return of several “Mission: Impossible” series cast members, including franchise stalwart Ving Rhames, recent additions Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson, and “Fallout” star Vanessa Kirby. In addition, the trailer shows the return of Henry Czerny, who appeared in the original 1996 “Mission Impossible” as IMF director Eugene Kittridge, showing a tense meeting between him and Cruise’s Hunt.

A trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One—the seventh film in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible franchise—has apparently leaked to social media. It’s not clear how long the leaked trailer has been online, though it appears all links promoting it on Twitter have already been shut down for copyright infringement. Polish cinematographer Dariusz Adam Wolski is lensing, according to Film New Europe.
