Top Gun sequel ever happened, was forced to swallow his pride and some laces this week.On October 26, 2010, at exactly 7:42 pm., Patches declared on Twitter, “If ‘Top Gun 2’ happens, I will eat a shoe.”As “Top Gun: Maverick,” the highly-anticipated sequel to the classic ’80s movie, hits theaters Memorial Day weekend, Patches admitted, “I made a grave error.”The original tweet has since been deleted, but that hasn’t stopped it from resurfacing throughout the years. Paramount reportedly even joined in on the joke, sending Patches a cake shaped like a shoe.

The trailer for "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" has officially dropped after it was apparently leaked online over the weekend. The Tom Cruise title, set to release on July 14, 2023, sees the "Top Gun: Maverick" star return as IMF Ethan Hunt – and this time the operative leader is handed the ultimatum that he can no longer fight for the "so-called greater good" and that he now must "pick a side." "Dead Reckoning Part One" is the seventh installment in the billion-dollar "M:I" franchise and also brings back IMF director Eugene Kittridge, again played by Henry Czerny.

Tom Cruise is back in theaters with and the first official look at the latest sequel,. Paramount Pictures shared the epic teaser for the upcoming installment for the spy franchise – and it has everything. Cruise, who returns as Ethan Hunt, is seen riding a horse in the desert, fighting in clubs, getting into (multiple) car chases, running along the top of a moving train, running through alleyways, running through a candle lit pathway, and riding his motorcycle off a cliff. In addition to Cruise, stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell, Greg Tarzan Davis and Frederick Schmidt.The first teaser for the seventh installment in the popular franchise comes after it was revealed in January that this film as well as the upcoming eighth sequel will be delayed due to complications of shooting both movies during the ongoing pandemic. Despite a new 2023 release date, the film is not done yet.

Wilson Chapman editorOn the heels of “Top Gun: Maverick,” another Tom Cruise action franchise is back, with the first trailer of “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.”“Dead Reckoning” is the seventh entry in the spy thriller series, which stars Cruise as Ethan Hunt, a special agent of the Impossible Missions Force (IMF). The trailer shows the return of several “Mission: Impossible” series cast members, including franchise stalwart Ving Rhames, recent additions Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson, and “Fallout” star Vanessa Kirby. In addition, the trailer shows the return of Henry Czerny, who appeared in the original 1996 “Mission Impossible” as IMF director Eugene Kittridge, showing a tense meeting between him and Cruise’s Hunt.

A trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One—the seventh film in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible franchise—has apparently leaked to social media. It’s not clear how long the leaked trailer has been online, though it appears all links promoting it on Twitter have already been shut down for copyright infringement. The franchise’s studio Paramount did not immediately return Deadline’s request for comment.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentAlain Attal, the French producer behind the upcoming $73 million movie “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom,” is teaming with Studiocanal on Thomas Bidegain’s survival drama “Suddenly,” which will star Gilles Lellouche (“The Stronghold”) and Melanie Thierry (“En Therapie”).Currently in pre-production, “Suddenly” will mark the sophomore directing outing of Bidegain, whose co-screenwriting credits include “Stillwater,” “The Sisters Brothers” and “A Prophet.”The project was previously set up as an English-language project with Jake Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Kirby set to star. Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories was also a co-producer on the project and is no longer attached.Attal told Variety that Bidegain re-worked the script with Valentine Monteil to make the €14 million ($14.7 million) film with a French cast and produce it entirely out of France with Attal’s Tresor Films and Studiocanal, which is financing, handling international sales and French distribution rights.
