Skarsgård, who started his Hollywood career working with top directors such as StevenSpielberg in “Amistad” (1997) and Gus Van Sant in “Good Will Hunting,” the same year, and segued to memorable roles in Gore Verbinsky’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and in “Mamma Mia!,” among other films. He is being feted by the Swiss fest dedicated to indie cinema with its Leopard Club Award dedicated to a film industry artist who has made a “mark on the collective imagination.”

The Locarno Film Festival will fete Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård with its Honorary Career Leopard award at the upcoming edition, running August 2 to 12.

The Denis Villeneuve drama, based on Frank Herbert’s novel, was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won six.  In the sequel, Atreides teams up with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to exact revenge on those who destroyed his family, and he must juggle his love life with the fate of the universe at stake. The trailer shows Paul riding the back of a massive sand worm on the deserts of Arrakis while Chani and the Fremen cheer him on.

Lucasfilm still hasn’t released a “Star Wars” feature film since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” But that hasn’t slowed down the studio’s live-action division as they have been primarily focused on creating original TV content for Disney+. It’s hard to argue that one of their more prestige series is “Andor,” a prequel focusing on the origins of Rebellion spy Cassian Andor while also exploring other rebels running things secretly on Coruscant under the looming threat of being discovered by the Empire.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Italy’s 2,500 dubbing industry workers are on a protracted strike demanding higher wages, less frenzied work conditions, and protection against digital dubbing devices, which they claim threaten their jobs. The country’s unions representing Italian voice actors and dubbing directors have been on the war path since Feb. 21. On Tuesday they announced the strike will continue for at least another week. The unions are demanding that standard contract wages that have remained unvaried for the past 15 years be raised. But they are also clamoring for the right to be able to work at a slower pace, claiming that “current production rhythms are not conducive to [good] quality of work and of life,” according to a statement issued by Italian dubbers’ union ANAD.

You’re the father! The Mamma Mia! films never revealed the true parentage of Amanda Seyfried’s character, Sophie, but the actress has a guess of her own.

The biggest question about Mamma Mia was finding out who Sophie’s dad was. However, it was never answered in either of the two movies.
