Johnny Depp/Jeff Beck Tour Brings on the Guitar Heroics and ‘I Love You, Johnny’ Shrieks

Michele Amabile Angermiller Johnny Depp brought his tour with Jeff Beck at the Hackensack Meridian Health Center at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ, Tuesday night, four months after a jury awarded the actor $10 million in damages following his Virginia defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. The pair kicked off their U.S. tour in Washington, D.C. just a few nights earlier, on Oct. 5, after releasing the joint album “18” this summer, and Tuesday’s show capped off a two-night New Jersey stand that attracted a crowd of fervent Depp supporters who regularly screamed “I love you, Johnny” and showered the actor with bras, cards and notes tossed to the stage.

Bruce Springsteen Flies Cross-Country to Join Zach Bryan Onstage in Brooklyn

Michele Amabile Angermiller Just 48 hours after show in San Diego at the Pechanga Arena and less than 24-hours before he is set to perform with the E Street Band at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Bruce Springsteen logged some serious (private) air miles for a surprise performance at country superstar Zach Bryan‘s concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Wednesday night.@springsteen on stage with Zach Bryan @barclayscenter tonight! Video by @AdamZagoria #springsteen #Zachbryan pic.twitter.com/ktgzwRaGLAZach Bryan, Bruce Springsteen and Maggie Rogers on Revival in Brooklyn pic.twitter.com/S27jytJ4r8 Bryan, wearing a Springsteen shirt, welcomed the 74-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to the stage for a performance of his new, unreleased song, “Sandpaper” as well as Bryan’s song “Revival.” Springsteen traded lyrics with Bryan on the former and took a solo on his famed, battered Fender guitar for “Revival.” Singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, who is featured on Bryan’s “Dawns,” performed that song with the headliner earlier in the evening and joined him for the encores with Springsteen.Someone revive me….Zach Bryan, @springsteen, @maggierogers in Brooklyn!!! pic.twitter.com/mV2ooDWwrf While the concert presumably wasn’t the only reason Springsteen flew cross-country, his history has shown he’ll pick up a guitar and join a friend onstage whenever he has time. Earlier this month, Bryan broke an attendance record in Springsteen’s home state of New Jersey at the Prudential Center in Newark on March 15.

Bruce Springsteen Resumes Tour With Rousing Philadelphia Concert, and No Mention of ‘Illness’

Michele Amabile Angermiller Mortality may be a central theme of Bruce Springsteen’s recent work, but at his concert with the E Street Band at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night: Despite several COVID-related bandmember absences and three recent show postponements for reasons unstated beyond the vague “illness,” the group isn’t going down without a fight. Indeed, Springsteen took the stage at 7:50 pm looking healthy, fit, and ready to rumble, greeting the crowd with a “Philly, my people!” — a nod to his and the band’s deep South Jersey roots — as the band roared into the opening song, “No Surrender.” At 73, Springsteen may not be a young many anymore but when he hits the stage, he still transforms into a rock and roll superhero, foisting his Fender like a sword and later ripping his shirt open, as if to quash any concerns about his health that arose with the vaguely explained postponements of the three shows before this one.

Pentatonix on Its Rise From A Capella Wonder to Hollywood Walk of Fame: A Star ‘Feels So Iconic’

Michele Amabile Angermiller Stars have been a theme throughout Pentatonix’s career. The a cappella group covered Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” early on, performed “Stars” from the musical “Finding Neverland,” and named their holiday television special “Christmas Under the Stars.” So it’s only fitting that the group — comprised of Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee — will be honored with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Feb. 21. More than a decade after forming, Pentatonix — a play on the pentatonic scale — became the first a cappella group to win a Grammy for arrangement with a sublime medley of Daft Punk songs in 2015. The group earned two more Grammys including 2016’s country duo/group performance for their duet with Dolly Parton on “Jolene,” and most recently, their album “Evergreen” was nominated for traditional pop vocal album at the 2023 awards.

Adam Lambert Contributes ‘Mad About the Boy’ Cover for Noel Coward Documentary

Michele Amabile Angermiller British playwright, composer, songwriter actor and singer Noel Coward may have been among the first multi-hyphenates and an influencer long before there were such concepts. Sea Hear Now Festival in NJ Brings Stevie Nicks, Green Day and a Packed Lineup to the Land of Bruce

Michele Amabile Angermiller Not long into her headlining set on the first day of the fourth annual Sea Hear Now festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Stevie Nicks had a question for the thousands stretched across the beach. “Is this the world of Bruce Springsteen?” she asked to enthusiastic cheers. “OK, we’re driving through, and there’s a street sign and I asked that same question and nobody really answered, at least like you guys just did.” Springsteen is certainly a part of the tapestry of the town, and was well-represented in photographer/festival organizer Danny Clinch’s art tent. But the city has an ever-evolving musical scene, and the beachside setting was its own draw on a weekend of warm, beautiful days and picturesque nights, with an ocean breeze enveloping Nicks and her flowing scarves, creating an ambience — or as she described it, a “fairytale” — only Mother Nature can provide. A red crescent moon peeking through the overhead clouds added to the mystique on the final weekend of summer and beginning of the fall season, or as Nicks — in a nod to her fans donning witch hats and Stevie-attire on the sand — framed it: “it’s almost Halloween.”

Screams for Taylor Swift, Confusion Over Johnny Depp, and More You Didn’t See on TV During the VMAs

Michele Amabile Angermiller There was plenty of action on, around and above the MTV VMA stages at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday night: Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance and not only took home the prize for Video of the Year (for “All Too Well”), she also announced her forthcoming new album, “Midnights”; Nicki Minaj took home the Video Vanguard award and delivered a performance that ranged from pink pop to torture-porn; and Latin had a bigger look than ever before, with eye-popping performances from Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Anitta, the latter of whom became the first Brazilian artist to win Best Latin Artist for her song “Envolver.” Yet there was plenty of action off-camera as well. On the red carpet in the hours before the show, Jack Harlow arrived early, clad in a leather-ish dark grey suit (which would have been suffocatingly hot if the Tri-State area was in one of its crushing bouts of summer humidity; lucky for him it was a cool evening). Big cheers also erupted for BlackPink, who stopped for a few quick photos.
