Mel B delivers powerful speech at Conservative Party conference calling on Government for domestic abuse reform: ‘I didn’t have access to anything’
Conservative Party conference, where she pleaded with the Government for domestic abuse reform. The Spice Girls singer made an appearance at the Tories’ annual conference in Birmingham on Sunday, which will also see Prime Minister Liz Truss face scrutiny over the tax cuts in the mini-budget. Donning a red power suit, Mel, 47, delivered a heartfelt speech recalling her own experience with domestic abuse in a bid to appeal to the Government to make changes to the judicial system and provide more support for survivors of domestic abuse. Earlier this year, the popstar received an MBE from King Charles III following her incredible work with the Women’s Aid charity. Addressing her audience at the conference, Mel quipped: ‘I’m probably the last person you would expect to find at a Tory party conference’. ‘I am not here because I am Mel B, Scary Spice from the Spice Girls, I am here because I am Melanie Brown MBE,’ she added. The Wannabe singer explained that she had been in an abusive relationship for 10 years but ‘kept it a complete secret’. ‘I went on tour with the Spice Girls, I was a judge on America’s Got Talent – voted best judge, if you can be voted the best judge on a TV show,’ she explained. ‘I put on a smile for the cameras because that is my job and I know I am really good at it as well.’ Mel recalled how she became isolated due to the abuse, unable to access her money, left without a support network and also attempting to take her own life. She said: ‘I couldn’t pick up the phone to call my mum, my friends, I didn’t have access to anything, and you think, well, Spice Girls are all about girl power, but let me tell you, when these abusers get their hooks into you, there is no way out, really – so you think.’ After

Billie Eilish is the Spice Girls’ biggest fan as she rocks vintage merch for three hour gym session
Billie Eilish proved she is a Spice Girls superfan as she rocked a vintage band tee for a gym session in Los Angeles. The Bad Guy singer, 20, reportedly spent three hours at the gym with a female friend, and was spotted leaving her session with a large water bottle and her boots under her arm. However, it wasn’t the mammoth exercise session that caught fans’ attention so much as her Spice Girls T-shirt.Billie was seen wearing a black T-shirt with a faded photo of the Spice Girls from their 90s heyday on the front. The vintage merchandise is clearly a well-loved item in Billie’s wardrobe as the picture on the front of Geri Horner, Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B and Emma Bunton was washed out after being worn so many times.Billie paired the tee, which appeared to have had its sleeves cut off, with brown cycling shorts, black socks and trainers, as she carried a pair of black boots under her arm.The Happier Than Ever star addressed her attitude to fashion earlier in the year, after recently ditching her oversized outfits to switch up her style. She told the Little Gold Men by Vanity Fair podcast in February: ‘Since I can remember, fashion has been how I convey my feelings, how I feel about myself, and my mood.‘It’s really like a security blanket, and I can’t remember when it wasn’t.’Billie also opened up about the one year anniversary of her album Happier Than Ever, telling Zane Lowe on his podcast what her writing process is with her brother Finneas.Amber Heard claimed Johnny Depp had erectile dysfunction in unsealed documents from courtPriyanka Chopra opens up about being 'curvy' while unveiling new denim campaignBeyonce will remove ableist slur from song Heated after backlashShe explained: ‘For me, I kind of go through

Mel B reveals ‘cathartic’ experience watching domestic abuse video after being ‘shamed’: ‘I’m so glad I spoke my truth’
Mel B has recalled the moment she felt free of ‘shame’ after coming forward with her experience of domestic abuse. The Spice Girls singer has spent the past few years raising awareness about domestic abuse and violence, working with charity Women’s Aid and starring in the harrowing yet powerful music video, Love Should Not Hurt, directed by composer Fabio D’Andrea. In May, the Wannabe hitmaker received an MBE for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women. Mel’s campaigning began after she ended her 10-year marriage with producer Stephen Belafonte in 2017. Together with Fabio, the pop star is now releasing a special series of charitable NFTs in support of Women’s Aid. Recalling her experience of working with the filmmaker and musician on the Love Should Not Hurt music video, Mel told Metro.co.uk at the pre-launch event at London’s first Crypto Club: ‘It was Fabio’s idea and this amazing thing he put together. ‘On set it was quite remarkable because I found out that everybody involved from the guy that did the lights to the guy that did the cameras, they’d all been involved in some kind of domestic violence scenario whether it be their parents, something they’d seen or whether they’d personally been involved themselves, so me watching it back was really cathartic like writing my book was.

Mel B confesses she wasn’t wearing knickers when she received MBE from Prince William: ‘Stark naked’
Mel B was willing to risk it all while receiving her MBE as the Spice Girls star has revealed she wasn’t wearing any knickers during the Royal occasion. The Wannabe singer was honoured with the medal at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women. In 2018, she became a patron of the charity Women’s Aid, after she was allegedly the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her former partner Stephen Belafonte – claims which Stephen denies. Last year, she also starred in a harrowing film portraying a domestic violence victim who fought to leave her abusive partner. Well, it seems the true spirit of being a cheeky Spice Girl has never left Mel as she has made a naughty confession about the ceremony. The 46-year-old wore a striking red dress which was designed by her bandmate and bestie Victoria Beckham. However, what Prince William didn’t know is that Mel was ‘stark, b****ck naked’ underneath the outfit. ‘Victoria asked me, “Will you wear nipple covers?” I said, “Why bother?”’ the singer told The Sun. It seems Mel did manage to get a Royal blush from the Duke of Cambridge, as she revealed: ‘When it came to the part where Prince William had to pin the MBE on, he asked for a female official to do it.

Mel B still wakes up ‘drenched in shame, sweat and fear’ due to PTSD five years after abusive relationship
Spice Girls star, 46, ended her marriage to Stephen Belafonte, 46, in 2017 after claiming he had emotionally and physically abused her during their 10-year union, which the producer has always denied.Mel revealed that while she has tried to block out the memories, they come back as flashbacks at night, causing her to lose sleep. She told The Sun: ‘Nearly five years on I still wake up in the early hours with terrifying fragments of sounds and images flitting into my brain.‘Things I’ve tried to block float to the surface — things that can still make me feel drenched in shame, sweat and fear.’Mel spoke out about her experiences in her book, Brutally Honest, in an attempt to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to help others who may be going through similar circumstances. While writing the book, Mel found that she was struggling to remember that time in her life due to having repressed so much of it, and was ‘horrified’ when she realised her daughter Phoenix, now 22, was able to fill in some of the details after having witnessed what her mother went through.Mel turned to drink and drugs to ‘dull the pain’ after finding she had nobody to confide in after being isolated from her loved ones. She added: ‘I didn’t realise, until after my book was published, that so many women follow this exact pattern.
