Stray Kids have topped the Billboard 200 with their latest mini-album, ‘ROCK-STAR’.‘ROCK-STAR’, which Stray Kids released on November 10, has become the K-pop boyband’s fourth consecutive Billboard 200 chart-topper and second of 2023, following ‘5-Star’ in June.According to data from Luminate, per Billboard, ‘ROCK-STAR’ topped the chart with 224,000 equivalent album units earned in the US, with the majority of those coming from traditional album sales.The group’s first Billboard 200 Number One record was the March 2022 mini-album ‘Oddinary’, which featured the hit single ‘Maniac’. Later that year, they would go on to top the chart again in October with ‘Maxident’.On the same night, Stray Kids also made an appearance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, where they performed their hit songs ‘S-Class’ and ‘LALALALA’, from ‘5-Star’ and ‘ROCK-STAR’ respectively.Later during the night, the K-pop boyband would also go on to win Top K-Pop Album for ‘5-Star’, beating out the likes of BTS’ Jimin, NewJeans, TXT and Twice.“Without the love and support from everyone, we would probably not have made it this far, and if wasn’t for the people that have been running by our side this whole time, the music that we create would not have been able to reach the people in need,” said Bang Chan of the win.“So us, Stray Kids, would like to say thank you to STAY and Billboard for giving us an unforgettable gift,” he added.

ITZY member Lia has released a new solo track and announced that she will stay on hiatus through the group’s upcoming release and world tour.On November 17, JYP Entertainment released a statement updating fans of the singer’s condition, after she went on hiatus this September due to “extreme levels of anxiety”.“Currently, Lia is experiencing tension and symptoms of anxiety when carrying out scheduled activities. She was diagnosed with anxiety disorder as a result of examination from a specialised medical institution, and she is currently focusing on treatment,” it said, as translated by Soompi.“After adequate discussion with Lia and the members, it was decided that Lia will be absent from the production of [ITZY’s] new album in January 2024 as well as their world tour in order to consider the recovery of her health as the top priority,” JYP continued.The agency went on to introduce Lia’s new solo song ‘Blossom’, which was unveiled on YouTube at the same time.

Luminate, a provider of music and entertainment data, the Top 100 K-pop artists globally have racked up a total of 90.4billion streams across audio and video services so far this year.The figure is a 42.2 per cent increase as compared to the same period in 2022, with Japan having the high number of on-demand streams at 9.7billion, up from 8.6billion from the year prior.The US came in second with 9.2billion, a marked increase from 6.6billion in 2022. Rounding out the Top Five in terms of most on-demand streams are Indonesia (7.4billion), South Korea (7.3billion) and India (6.2billion).In its report, Luminate also broke down the regional composition of streams for a number of top K-pop groups.

Xdinary Heroes have confirmed the cities and dates that will make up the first run of their first world tour, titled ‘Break The Brake’.The band will return with their fourth mini-album, ‘Livelock’, next week (October 11). Its lead single will also be titled ‘Break The Brake’.Xdinary Heroes will kick off the tour with three shows in Seoul in early November before heading over to Europe for a further six dates on the continent.

Stray Kids have announced details of their next EP, ‘Rock-Star’, which will arrive next month.The JYP Entertainment boyband confirmed their next comeback earlier today (October 6), sharing a “prologue” video online.The clip captures the feelings of a small child preparing to go on stage to perform as the trumpet player in a band. Rappers Felix and Bang Chan narrate the video, with Felix offering a calming presence in contrast to his bandmate’s manic and theatrical delivery.“The anxiety is something we create ourselves,” Bang Chan whispers dramatically as stage time approaches.

BamBam has revealed that Day6 member Young K was originally supposed to debut in GOT7.Day6’s Young K recently made a guest appearance on BamBam’s YouTube show, Bam House, where the GOT7 member spoke about the pair’s time at JYP Entertainment. Notably, BamBam left the K-pop agency in 2021, alongside his follow GOT7 members.“Guys, I’ve said this many times before, but you know how I wasn’t part of the pre-debut GOT7 team at first, right? TWICE member Sana has opened up about the extreme diet she was put on during her trainee days.In a new episode of South Korean streamer DEX’s YouTube cooking series DEX’s Fridge Interview, he spoke with TWICE’s Sana about her cooking and eating habits while going through the contents of her fridge.During the interview, the K-pop singer shared that she had been made to go on diets prior to her debut in the group. “When I was a trainee, I was really stressed, and there was a moment where I gained more weight,” she said, revealing that “there was a time when I survived on just eight cherry tomatoes a day”.Later, she also discussed her love for jokbal, a Korean pig trotter dish she had to “secretly” eat when she was put on a diet.

Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin were recently involved in a car accident.Today (September 21), JYP Entertainment revealed in a press statement that Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin of Stray Kids had been involved in what the label described as a “minor collision” on Wednesday (September 20) while the trio were returning home after a scheduled event.The K-pop agency added that all three Stray Kids members “immediately visited a hospital and received thorough medical examination”. It added that none of the three K-pop idols nor their accompanying staff members were “seriously injured”.“But as they have sustained mild muscle pain and bruises, medical professionals have advised that they receive conservative treatment for the time being,” JYP Entertainment noted.As a result, Lee Know and Hyunjin will not longer attend the ongoing Milan Fashion Week, which is being held from September 19 to 25.

Jihyo, of K-pop girl group TWICE, has opened up about being called “mother” by her fans.According to The New York Times, “mother” is a term that stems from the “Black and Latino LGBTQ ballroom scene”, with its current use bring used as “a term of endearment for famous women with avid devotees”.In a new interview with Teen Vogue, Jihyo is informed by the publication that she’s often referred to as “mother” by fans and casual K-pop listeners alike. “I honestly didn’t know that,” she said.

ITZY is taking a hiatus from the group and her activities.Today (September 18), JYP Entertainment announced that Lia would be taking a step back from all scheduled activities, stemming from concerns over the ITZY member’s health.The K-pop agency said that the singer is currently “experiencing extreme levels of tension and anxiety regarding her schedules”, in a statement, as translated by Koreaboo.“She has received medical consultation and examination, and the medical staff have stated she needs stability and treatment,” JYP Entertainment added. “Lia will not participate in schedules for the time being in order to focus on her treatment.”The label added that the decision for Lia to take a hiatus was made after discussions with the members of ITZY.

K-pop girl group H1-KEY and Young K have collaborated for a special performance of ‘Rose Blossom’.During the September 8 episode of late-night South Korean music talk show The Seasons: Long Day, Long Night with AKMU, rookie girl group H1-KEY made a guest appearance to perform their January single ‘Rose Blossom’ with Day6 member singer Young K, who penned the track.Their performance remained largely true to the original ‘Rose Blossom’, with its instrumental being performed by a live band. Tomorrow X Together (TXT), ITZY and more will perform at KPOP LUX x SBS Super Concert London this September.KPOP LUX x SBS Super Concert London will take place on September 22 and 23 at the O2 Arena. It is the event’s second stop of the year, following a July 22 Madrid show that featured SHINee, ENHYPEN, STAYC, IVE and more.The September 22 date of the upcoming K-pop festival will feature performances from two girl groups (ITZY and an as-yet-unannounced second act) and four boybands (THE BOYZ, WEi, ZEROBASEONE and xikers).Meanwhile the September 23 show will also feature performance by ITZY and xikers.

TWICE member Chaeyoung has revealed how she felt when Jeon Somi didn’t make it into the girl group.In 2015, both Chaeyoung and Jeon Somi were contestants on the reality TV show Sixteen, where sixteen JYP Entertainment trainess competed for spots in the then-upcoming girl group TWICE.The two K-pop idols had made it to the final episode of the series, but only Chaeyoung would go on to debut in TWICE. Jeon Somi, who finished the series in tenth place, would later leave JYP Entertainment in 2018, before making her solo debut under YG Entertainment-owned subsidiary The Black Label in 2019.Chaeyoung and Jeon Somi have since address that moment in a new episode of the online game show Yes or Hot, hosted by the latter.

Stray Kids member Bang Chan has revealed that he is no longer allowed to continue his popular livestream series, Chan’s Room.Bang Chan has been known to host weekly livestreams on YouTube, and formerly on VLIVE, where he would chat with fans and talk on various topics. The musician launched the series in early 2019, with the latest episode being held on May 14 this year.Notably, the May 14 episode of Chan’s Room drew controversy over remarks Bang Chan had made about generational differences in greeting etiquette, following his experience at the Music Bank in Paris event in April.Bang Chan later apologised for this comments in a post on the official Stray Kids Instagram.

Jihyo has opened up about the criticism she received when she first debuted in TWICE.On August 22, the K-pop singer appeared as a guest on music talk show Leemujin Service to promote her debut solo record ‘ZONE’. During the episode, Jihyo shared that she had struggled with her vocals early in her career.Jihyo opened the episode with a performance of her new single ‘Killin’ Me Good’, followed by a cover of John Park’s ‘Thought Of You’.

Music Bank has announced the line-up of it’s upcoming concert in Mexico, featuring NewJeans, (G)I-DLE and more.Today (July 27), television broadcaster KBS released a new teaser for its upcoming ‘Music Bank in Mexico’ concert, which is set to be held at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico on October 22.Fronting the line-up of ‘Music Bank in Mexico’ are four popular girl groups: NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, STAYC and ITZY. Joining them will be two boybands, The New Six and AB6IX.

Troye Sivan has shared that he received “death threats” after posting a TikTok about Stray Kids member Hyunjin.Last month, Troye Sivan uploaded a TikTok compilation of Stray Kids’ Hyunjin, writing in the caption: “Anyone know how to reach this man :///“. Girls’ Generation‘s member YoonA has opened up about the long production process of her new K-drama series, King The Land.YoonA recently spoke to Allure Korea about King The Land, which is currently airing on South Korean network JTBC and available internationally on Netflix.During the interview, the actress revealed that filming for the series took 10 months to complete, the longest of any K-drama she has done before. “I think I’ve also forgotten what my everyday life without ‘King the Land’ is like,” she added, per Soompi.King The Land co-star Junho, of K-pop boyband 2PM, said that it was the first time he starred in a K-drama that was completely filmed in advance of its premiere.
