TWICE have dropped a remix album titled ‘The Remixes’, featuring seven re-arranged versions of some of their hit songs, alongside several new collaborations.The new record, which dropped on streaming services earlier today (November 22), includes new English versions of ‘Alcohol-Free’ and ‘Cry For Me’, as well as an electronic dance pop remix of ‘Moonlight Sunrise’ with DJ Jonas Blue, which first dropped as a pre-release for ‘The Remixes’ last week.TWICE also joined forces with pop-rock band Boys Like Girls on a refreshed version of ‘I Can’t Stop Me’, and collaborated with DJs Ian Asher, Carneyval and Lee Hae-sol on remixes of the songs ‘The Feels’, ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘More & More’, respectively. Stray Kids have topped the Billboard 200 with their latest mini-album, ‘ROCK-STAR’.‘ROCK-STAR’, which Stray Kids released on November 10, has become the K-pop boyband’s fourth consecutive Billboard 200 chart-topper and second of 2023, following ‘5-Star’ in June.According to data from Luminate, per Billboard, ‘ROCK-STAR’ topped the chart with 224,000 equivalent album units earned in the US, with the majority of those coming from traditional album sales.The group’s first Billboard 200 Number One record was the March 2022 mini-album ‘Oddinary’, which featured the hit single ‘Maniac’. Later that year, they would go on to top the chart again in October with ‘Maxident’.On the same night, Stray Kids also made an appearance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, where they performed their hit songs ‘S-Class’ and ‘LALALALA’, from ‘5-Star’ and ‘ROCK-STAR’ respectively.Later during the night, the K-pop boyband would also go on to win Top K-Pop Album for ‘5-Star’, beating out the likes of BTS’ Jimin, NewJeans, TXT and Twice.“Without the love and support from everyone, we would probably not have made it this far, and if wasn’t for the people that have been running by our side this whole time, the music that we create would not have been able to reach the people in need,” said Bang Chan of the win.“So us, Stray Kids, would like to say thank you to STAY and Billboard for giving us an unforgettable gift,” he added.

ITZY’s Lia drops solo song, to continue hiatus through upcoming album and world tour

ITZY member Lia has released a new solo track and announced that she will stay on hiatus through the group’s upcoming release and world tour.On November 17, JYP Entertainment released a statement updating fans of the singer’s condition, after she went on hiatus this September due to “extreme levels of anxiety”.“Currently, Lia is experiencing tension and symptoms of anxiety when carrying out scheduled activities. She was diagnosed with anxiety disorder as a result of examination from a specialised medical institution, and she is currently focusing on treatment,” it said, as translated by Soompi.“After adequate discussion with Lia and the members, it was decided that Lia will be absent from the production of [ITZY’s] new album in January 2024 as well as their world tour in order to consider the recovery of her health as the top priority,” JYP continued.The agency went on to introduce Lia’s new solo song ‘Blossom’, which was unveiled on YouTube at the same time.

K-pop streams globally are up 42 per cent over the past year

Luminate, a provider of music and entertainment data, the Top 100 K-pop artists globally have racked up a total of 90.4billion streams across audio and video services so far this year.The figure is a 42.2 per cent increase as compared to the same period in 2022, with Japan having the high number of on-demand streams at 9.7billion, up from 8.6billion from the year prior.The US came in second with 9.2billion, a marked increase from 6.6billion in 2022. Rounding out the Top Five in terms of most on-demand streams are Indonesia (7.4billion), South Korea (7.3billion) and India (6.2billion).In its report, Luminate also broke down the regional composition of streams for a number of top K-pop groups.
