Wes Anderson is taking movie fans to the desert.

The director shared the first trailer for his latest on Wednesday, giving fans a look at the story of a widower (Jason Schwartzman), his father (Tom Hanks), and the remote desert town they find themselves stranded in, circa 1955.The film's official synopsis shares a bit more about the story — which also appears to include a close encounter with alien life:Written and directed by Anderson, the film also stars some of the director's regular collaborators like Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, and Edward Norton, as well as Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, and Jeff Goldblum. is out in select theaters June 16, and out wide June 23.

Some of our favorite filmmakers are working at an insane pace right now. Claire Denis released two films in 2022 (“Both Sides of The Blade,” “Stars At Noon”), Yorgos Lanthimos could probably release two films in 2023 if he wanted (“Poor Things” is definitely coming next year and “And” has already been shot), and Wes Anderson’s moving at a clip too.

Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming $100 million epic feature “Megalopolis,” is shaping up — and it includes Shia LaBeouf. Reports surfaced earlier this month indicating that the controversial actor was circling a leading role in Coppola’s passion project. Now, with production slated to begin this fall, LaBeouf’s casting has been confirmed. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” has released its official first look image of its young stars Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth as Lucy Gray Baird and the young Coriolanus Snow.Based on Suzanne Collins’ novel of the same name, the plot to this highly anticipated prequel film will follow Snow pre-tyranny. As an 18-year-old, he is a top student at the elite Panem’s Academy, selected to train Lucy, a District 12 tribute, who becomes his mentee.

Magnolia Pictures has acquired the U.S. rights to “There There,” the latest film from “Support the Girls” and “Results” filmmaker Andrew Bujalski, out of the Tribeca Film Festival.“There There” is described as an “uneasy comedy” about a delirious mirror image of everyday life in a distinctly twisted and discordant world. The film stars Jason Schwartzman, Lili Taylor, Lennie James, Molly Gordon, Avi Nash, Annie La Ganga, Roy Nathanson and Jon Natchez.Magnolia plans to release the film later this year.

If you’re a fan of superhero films or just good films, in general, you have to be excited about “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” The sequel to ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ (which won the Best Animated Feature Oscar, btw) features animation that looks to push the boundaries of what was even done in the previous film and it actually has an even beefier cast than before. And the cast just keeps growing, as Sony announces even more familiar voices joining the animated sequel.
