Francis Ford Coppola‘s passion project “Megalopolis” will officially premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, in a gala slot on May 17. “Megalopolis” boasts an all-star cast, including Shia LaBeouf, Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Coppola’s sister Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman (Shire’s son), Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter and James Remar.
Francis Ford Coppola kicked off 2024 by confirming that his self-financed magnum opus “Megalopolis” will reach audiences this year. “It’s only going to be a few months and it’ll be out,” Coppola said in January.

She reunites with McKay after earning an Oscar nomination in best supporting actress for her turn as Lynne Cheney in their 2018 comedy “Vice.” The ensemble also includes Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler. Along with writing and directing, McKay will produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick. The film does not yet have an official release date.
