EXCLUSIVE: Following the success of Don’t Look Up, Netflix and Adam McKay are reuniting as the streamer has acquired Adam McKay’s new star-studded directorial feature, Average Height, Average Build. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler. McKay, who has written the script, will direct and produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick.

Extrapolations executive producers Dorothy Fortenberry, Michael Ellenberg and Scott Z. Burns, who also serves as creator, writer and director, joined Deadline’s Contenders TV event to talk about what went into creating a potentially fictitious and disastrous future Earth.

MGM+ has given the green light to Hollywood Black, a documentary series from director Justin Simien that aims to serve as “a definitive chronicle of a century of the Black experience in Hollywood.”

Selome Hailu MGM+ has greenlit a docuseries titled “Hollywood Black” directed by Justin Simien, who executive produces alongside Forest Whitaker. In four parts, “Hollywood Black” focuses on the history of Black actors, writers, directors and producers who fought for their place in the entertainment industry. The series is based on the book of the same name by historian Donald Bogle. Simien is best known for writing and directing the 2014 film “Dear White People” and creating the Netflix series of the same name. He also directed and wrote 2020’s “Bad Hair,” and directed “Haunted Mansion,” the 2023 horror film based on the Disney theme park ride, which debuts later this year.

Megalopolis – with the movie now over 40 years in the making.Coppola’s passion project first came about in 1980 – however, the director didn’t have the funds at the time to make the movie a reality, eventually putting his film on the shelf. Well, it looks like Adam McKay‘s “Average Height, Average Build” is a go, at least in terms of its cast. Deadline reports that McKay has the two leading men he wants for the project lined up, with Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey Jr. now on board.

Julia MacCary editor Variety is set to honor “Fruitvale Station” producer and Significant Productions co-founder Nina Yang Bongiovi with its Creative Impact in Producing Award at the Sun Valley Film Festival in Idaho in recognition of her many achievements. At 10 a.m. March 31, she will participate in a Coffee Talk, which is the crown jewel of the festival, and a moderated conversation to discuss her career. The event is open to the public. The festival will also celebrate Variety’s 10 Producers to Watch event; they will be announced on March 15. “Nina Yang Bongiovi is a compelling storyteller with an impressive filmography, and we are excited to celebrate her career achievement at the Sun Valley Film Festival,” said Steven Gaydos, Variety EVP global content and executive editor.

Disney+’s Andor is getting a cross-company push. The first two episodes of the Star Wars prequel series will air across Disney’s distribution platforms including ABC, FX, Freeform and Hulu over the Thanksgiving holiday, coinciding with the Season 1 finale on the streamer.

Paramount Pictures has made two more major tweaks to its release schedule, moving the next film in its Scream franchise up from March 31 to March 10, 2023 while pushing back the starry Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves from March 3 to March 31, 2023. Both titles will open in theaters nationwide.
