man of many jobs — too many jobs, according to some trolls on social media. The 48-year-old accomplished TV personality is adding “Wheel of Fortune” to his impressive resume, as he announced Tuesday that he will replace longtime host Pat Sajak, 76, when he retires next year. Seacrest holds several coveted jobs in Hollywood as the host of “American Idol”and his syndicated KIIS-FM radio show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” and Dick Clark’s replacement on ABC’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”Seacrest recently ended his six-year run as Kelly Ripa’s counterpart on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” apparently freeing up some time in his schedule to take on one of television’s most beloved game shows. The “Wheel” gig reportedly comes with a $28 million salary too, which would make Seacrest the highest-paid talent on TV. While one of Seacrest’s Instagram fans argued he is the “perfect replacement” for Sajak, fans over on Twitter voiced different opinions.
Ryan Seacrest will replace Pat Sajak as the host of "Wheel of Fortune." "Wheel of Fortune" made the announcement on Twitter, writing, "It’s official! Starting in 2024 @RyanSeacrest will take the stage as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. We're so excited - Welcome Ryan!" "I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak," Seacrest said in a statement, obtained by Fox News Digital.
Once Pat Sajak announced his retirement from "Wheel of Fortune," fans immediately began trying to solve the puzzle as to who would replace their favorite game show host. All eyes turned to Ryan Seacrest, whose schedule recently became a little more available after he stepped down from co-hosting "Live! with Kelly and Ryan" in April. Seacrest's name has reportedly been floated among several people who are being considered as Sajak's replacement by "Wheel of Fortune" owner Sony Group Corp.
Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large The Emmys have been here before. In 1980, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (back then, they were two separate unions negotiating a joint contract with the studios but are now the combined SAG-AFTRA) went on strike for three months. That year’s Emmy telecast happened to fall right in the middle of it. Actors boycotted the ceremony, but for some reason, the TV Academy went ahead with the Emmy telecast anyway. Famously, only one out of 52 nominees attended: Powers Boothe, who said when accepting his trophy for playing cult leader Jim Jones: “This is either the most courageous moment of my career or the stupidest.”
Ryan Seacrest could potentially replace Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic There could probably be no better evangelist for anything than the immensely respected Rhiannon Giddens, and the banjo is lucky to have her. The singer and multi-instrumentalist has been spreading the gospel of that instrument generally and its roots in Black culture specifically for years, in her live performances and as a member of a banjo-driven all-star ensemble, Our Native Daughters. Now, she’s taking a much deeper dive than ever with an outstanding 10-part limited series, “The Banjo: Music, History and Heritage With Rhiannon Giddens,” which has her and some guests who are pickers and/or academics exploring the twisted, fascinating journey of what she considers the quintessential American instrument. The series covers everything from the instrument’s roots in the African diaspora to its role in slavery to its adaptation as a staple of “hillbilly” music, on up to its resurgence as a staple of the Americana music scene today — and how, in Giddens’ view, it has been a reflection of divisiveness and unification in the U.S. over a period of centuries.
