Netflix did its annual blitz, a big dog and pony show for the press last night, revealing its entire film slate for 2024.  Most of the heavy hitters you already know, like Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver,” which we already know, comes out in April, or “Beverley Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” or John Ridley’s “Shirley,” or Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man,” recently announced for a June release, but there’s plenty of surprises and new confirmations too.

HOLLYWOOD – On Wednesday evening, in Netflix’s star-filled (literally) Tudum theater, the top execs of the world’s streaming giant met the press to discuss their 2024 television programs and films. Timed to the release of a new video preview that debuted this morning, the presentation featured exclusive first looks at series such as Gut Ritche’s “The Gentlemen” and films that will only stream on Netflix like the long-awaited “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” And, at the center of the event was Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria.

Eddie Murphy is returning to the Beverly Hills Cop universe and reprising his role of Axel Foley in a fourth installment of the franchise.

Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F – you can watch it above.The fourth instalment of the franchise sees Eddie Murphy return as the iconic, rebellious cop Axel Foley, along with a host of familiar faces.Characters Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) are both spotted alongside Axel as he returns to LA in the action-packed teaser.In addition to the original characters, we also get a glimpse of Joseph Gordon Levitt as Axel’s new partner. Kevin Bacon can also be spotted, as well as Taylour Paige, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot.The official synopsis for the film reads: “Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills.

Netflix has shared a first-look photo of Eddie Murphy‘s return to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4.

After years of the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise gathering dust on the shelf, Netflix has decided to revive it for, at least, one more adventure. And even though we are still likely pretty far away from its eventual 2024 release, we do have our first look at Eddie Murphy returning to his iconic role as Axel Foley, courtesy of Empire.

As Netflix readies “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” for its premiere on the streamer, another Eddie Murphy vehicle emerges. And this one doesn’t see Murphy reprise an old favorite role of his, like “Axel Foley” or “Coming 2 America.” Instead, Variety reports that the actor-comedian will take over a role previously played by comedy legends like Peter Sellers and Steve Martin.

Today it was announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Madden are set to star in Killer Heat, from Amazon Studios. Philippe Lacôte is directing the film, which is based on Jo Nesbø’s short story The Jealousy Man, from a script penned by Roberto Bentivegna (House of Gucci), with revisions by Oscar and BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies; Treason). Makeready’s Brad Weston is producing the film, with Jo Nesbø (bestselling Harry Hole book series), Niclas Salomonsson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Karnowski, and Makeready’s Collin Creighton executive producing. Makeready’s Oscar Montemayor will associate produce.

Angelique Jackson Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Richard Madden are set to star in the thriller “Killer Heat,” from Amazon Studios. “Night of the Kings” filmmaker Philippe Lacôte has signed on to direct the movie, which is based on Jo Nesbø’s 2021 short story “The Jealousy Man.” The film centers on twin brothers (Madden) caught in a violent love triangle on a remote Greek island, and a damaged detective known as “The Jealousy Man” (Gordon-Levitt), who is called in to investigate. Lacôte will direct from a script penned by Roberto Bentivegna (“House of Gucci”), with revisions by Oscar and BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Matt Charman (“Bridge of Spies,” “Treason”).

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The upcoming Shondaland Netflix series “The Residence” has added 11 new cast members, Variety has learned. The new cast members are: Andre Braugher, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Mary Wiseman. The group joins previously announced series lead Uzo Aduba. The official logline for the series states, “132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective (Aduba). One disastrous State Dinner. ‘The Residence’ is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.”
