Big Thief‘s Adrianne Lenker has debuted a new single ‘Ruined’ and announced a 2024 UK and Europe tour.The track is set to become the lead single from Lenker’s forthcoming sixth solo album, which will land next year. No further details about the album have been revealed as of yet.‘Ruined’ sees Lenker move to the piano for the first time as she laments a conflicting romantic situation – “Can’t get enough of you/ You come around I’m ruined,” she sings.“This song has been a quiet beacon for me.

Lenker’s new rendition of the song is patient and piano-based, a rare thing for the guitarist. “Can’t get enough of you / You come around I’m ruined,” she laments on the chorus.

Ethan Shanfeld Buck Meek, the Texas-born singer-songwriter and guitarist of Big Thief, has signed to 4AD and announced his third solo album, “Haunted Mountain,” slated for an Aug. 25 release. Meek teased the upcoming release with a music video for the lead single, also titled “Haunted Mountain,” which is co-written by Jolie Holland. The album, according to the announcement, is about love and “something bigger than love, something that doesn’t challenge love exactly but stands in contrast to it. A soulfulness, or a soul-seeking fullness.” In Meek’s own words, “Not break-up songs, but an actual love song written in earnest? That is taboo now. Sometimes it can feel like all the great love songs have already been written.”

Indigo Sparke's upcoming album Hysteria is an astonishing listen, written in the dead center of grieving a relationship directly after it ended. Produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, the album (out October 7) builds on Sparke's 2021 debut Echo (produced by Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief) with the title track offering a window into Sparke's maximalist feelings and stunning vocals. It's notable that a song about uncontrollable emotions feels this cogent and serene.

Big Thief have announced plans for a world tour in 2023.The jaunt will include several dates in the UK which kick off at Gateshead Sage on April 5, along with further dates in Edinburgh, Manchester, and Cardiff, followed by two shows in London which wrap up at the Eventim Apollo on April 12.This will be followed a series of European dates throughout the rest of the month.Tickets for the UK shows go on sale this Friday (September 16) at 10am and can be purchased here. Big Thief have pulled out of two upcoming live shows in Israel and issued an apology for the “recklessness and naivete” of a statement they had previously shared defending the booking. Backlash to Big Thief's decision to play two shows in Tel Aviv in July began over the weekend with multiple social media users calling the band out for seemingly ignoring the BDS cultural boycott of Israel.
