Pearl Jam Announces First Album in Seven Years, Along With North American Tour

For those of us old enough to be music fans and attending concerts in the mid-1990s, Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster will forever be inextricably linked. Pearl Jam became synonymous with anti-Ticketmaster venom from both artists and consumers during that period, who saw the ticketing company as a monopoly (even in the pre-Live Nation merger days) that charged egregious fees to the detriment of both parties.

Pearl Jam is not a band that has ever accepted conventional wisdom. So now they are going after what many regard as a permanent pest of the touring industry -- the ticket resale market.

The Psychedelic Furs have announced a new album, their first in nearly 30 years. It’s called Made of Rain and it’s out May 1 via Cooking Vinyl. Pearl Jam gave rock fans a taste of their upcoming album, Gigaton, with their new single, "Dance of the Clairvoyants." On Wednesday (Jan. 29), the band unveiled the tune's cinematic music video.The clip weaves scenes of the group performing the song with stunning scenes of nature and the Earth, including mountains, raindrops, the night sky, deserts, forests and more.

Pearl Jam unveiled its upcoming 11th studio album “Gigaton” today at NeueHouse in Los Angeles during an intimate playback in Dolby Atmos sound — complete with frontman Eddie Vedder pouring tequila shots for attendees while the music blared. As previously reported, “Gigaton” will be released March 27 on the band’s Monkeywrench imprint through Republic, and is preceded by the Talking Heads-tinged first single “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” which dropped earlier this week.

Pearl Jam’s long hibernation is officially over.
