It was later revealed that O'Grady had died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia, passing away in his sleep at his home in Kent. In this interview, he expressed his wish to reach at least 60 years old, which he thought would be "amazing".
xx At the time of the interview, Paul had already experienced various health battles. He had already had two heart attacks - the first in 2002 and the second just four years later. He suffered another heart attack in 2014 and also battled kidney failure, as well as complications from COVID-19 during the pandemic.
Speaking to the Mirror, Paul, rather eerily, said he felt lucky to be alive and hoped to make it to 60. "I don't fear anything nowadays," he shared, reports the Daily Star. Paul talked about a scary time when his heart stopped during one of his cardiac arrests., joking with his typical humour that he didn't see any 'bright lights' or 'angels' during his near-death experience.
"Everyone asks: 'Did you see anything? ' No, sorry. Nothing," he said. Even after his health scares, Paul believes there's an angel looking out for him.
