Patti LuPone has revealed some more information about her decision to quit Broadway.
The 73-year-old three-time Tony-winning actress announced in a shocking tweet on Monday (October 17) that she is giving up her Broadway career.
It was originally believed that the controversy surrounding actress Lillias White‘s incident last week was what led Patti to make the decision, but it seems that isn’t true.
People have been bringing up Patti‘s past behavior in the wake of Lillias‘ controversy. She has previously called out Broadway patrons for using recording devices while on stage. In 2015, she confiscated an audience member’s phone while on stage. More recently, during a talk-back she participated in, Patti went on a rant against a theater-goer who refused to wear a mask.
