While the world appreciated the Academy for recognising talent beyond boundaries and language barriers when they presented Parasite with Best Picture award at Oscars 2020, US President Donald Trump did not think it was a good idea. While delivering a speech at a rally on January 20, Trump mocked Oscars for the South Korean film’s historic win, Variety reported.

As Bong Joon-ho accepted the third Oscar for the night for his masterpiece of a film, Parasite, the South Korean filmmaker made sure to give a major shoutout to his fellow nominees - Martin Scorsese for The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Sam Mendes for 1917 and Todd Phillips for Joker.

The U.S. television audience for the 2020 Oscars fell to an all-time low for a ceremony that brought big wins for South Korean satire Parasite but was criticized by reviewers as long and haphazard.

South Korean social media was flooded with statements of elation and celebration Monday after local hero Bong Joon Ho and his strikingly original film Parasite swept the 92nd Academy Awards.Bong and Parasite struck gold early Sunday night, first winning the Oscar for best original screenplay.

The 92nd Academy Awards show ended on a high note. Parasite was undeniably the star of the awards show this year as it bagged four major awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (presented to Bong Joon Ho.) While the South Korean drama brought the Dolby Theatre down with their wins, Oscar 2020 played witness to some powerful speeches.

It is safe to say now that Parasite absolutely owned the 92nd Academy Awards and the team deserves all the appreciation in the world for their historic win. Celebrating the success of the South Korean film, Jonas share a note of appreciation on Instagram.
